• Botswana

We arrived in our 4th Sub-Saharan country: Botswana. With its 2 million inhabitants the country is (similar to Namibia) one of the most sparsely populated countries in the world. It ranks very high (good) in Transparency’s Corruption Index and it ranks also quite high (negative) on a very sad calculation: Botswana has one of the…

  • River Dance Lodge

After the 4 days at the Flamingo Lodge this has been our second location to relax. Three days at the Okavango facing Angola on the other side. Our spontaneous decision : We will follow the river during the next few days.  …… Unsere zweite Erholungspause nach der Flamingo-Lodge an der Atlantikküste: Drei Tage am Ufer des…

  • Back home? Namibia!

After two weeks in Angola we came back to Namibia. Our next goal is in the east … With a stop in „Sachsenheim“ and an 8 hour tour on a tarmac road (how boaring!) we arrived in the River Dance Lodge located at the Banks of the Okawango

  • Angolan People

The main asset of this country and the main reason to visit: Angolans. Always friendly, always smiling (even for the policeman it took only an hour …) always willing to communicate. The only thing that could be better is our Portuguese.

  • Angolan Animals – The Little Five

In Angola you hardly see a gazelle, not speaking of the famous African Big Five (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard, buffalo). All the animals tourists would love to see had been killed during the civil war as people were starving. We will find them in Namibia or Botswana. In Angola we were happy with some „Little Five“.   The…

  • Angolan Landscape

  • Angolan Cities

Namibe and Lubango … the monumento Christo Rei in Lubango is a copy of the Corcovado statue in Rio de Janeiro

  • A new direction

Changing direction again (now the green route – heading back to Namibia): In the next days we’ll have a contrastive schedule: Cities instead of beaches and rivers, people instead of seals and dolphins.

  • Compliance

Complying with the rules @ Flamingo Lodge  …  Regeln, an die wir uns gerne halten …
