Das Wichtigste des Tages: Chris & Lena mit Mayla & Marlon sind wohlbehalten in Vic Falls gelandet und mit dem Taxi nach Kasane (Botswana) gefahren, wo sie nach mehrstündigen Wartezeiten bei AVIS und erzwungenem Austausch des Ersatzreifens dann doch noch das richtige Auto erhalten. Wir selbst sind von Livingstone die 70 km nach Kasane gefahren und haben erst mal unsere 150 Liter Diesel aufgefüllt. In Sambia hatten wir nämlich gestern so gar keinen Erfolg: Sechs Tankstellen angefahren und sechsmal gab es keinen Diesel. Da mag unser Finanzminister noch so überzeugt sagen, dass der Krieg im Iran nicht unser Krieg sei. Wenn man in Afrika ohne Treibstoff steht, ist es doch ganz plötzlich unser Krieg.
Egal. Die Familie ist zusammen. Das zählt!
Big news of the day: Chris & Lena, together with Mayla & Marlon, have safely landed in Victoria Falls and took a taxi to Kasane (Botswana). After hours of waiting at AVIS, plus a forced replacement of the spare tire, they finally scored the right car. We, on the other hand, drove the 70 km from Livingstone to Kasane ourselves and promptly filled up our 150 liters of diesel. You see, yesterday in Zambia, we had zero luck – we tried six gas stations and got turned away at every single one for no diesel. Our finance minister may be adamant that the war in Iran isn’t our war, but in Africa, running out of fuel suddenly makes it VERY much our war.
Anyway, the family is reunited and that’s what counts!
