Eigentlich wären wir jetzt auf dem Weg nach Zimbabwe. Aber wir ändern unsere Routenplanung für ein Shopping in Kasane. Die nordbotswanische Touristenmetropole hat nämlich drei Reifenhändler. Wir gehen zu Tyre World, wo acht Mechaniker freudig aufspringen, als Kundschaft kommt. Auf meine vorsichtige Frage, ob sie auch Continental führen, folgt ein Blick auf unsere Reifen und ein Ruf in die gigantische Lagerhalle: „Continental 235/85?“ Postwendende Antwort: „Five“. Nun, wir brauchen nur einen Reifen, aber die Begeisterung ist ansteckend. Wie in der Formel 1 springen vier junge Männer mit Wagenheber und Radkreuz an Toyo ran und bis ich die Rechnung bezahlt habe, ist der neue Reifen bereits montiert. Da wir nun schon mal da sind, übernachten wir mal wieder in der Chobe Safari Lodge und genießen ein phantastisches Abendessen. Vielleicht sollten wir öfter Reifen kaufen, um die kulinarischen Köstlichkeiten der Region zu genießen!
We should actually be on our way to Zimbabwe right now. However, we’ve changed our route for a little shopping spree in Kasane. This northern Botswana tourist hotspot has three tire dealers! We head to Tyre World, where eight mechanics spring up joyfully as we arrive as customers. When I cautiously ask if they carry Continental tires, a glance at our tires is followed by a shout into the gigantic warehouse: „Continental 235/85?“ The immediate response is, „Five!“ Well, we only need one tire, but the excitement is contagious. Like in a Formula 1 pit stop, four young men jump into action with jacks and wrenches, and by the time I’ve settled the bill, the new tire is already mounted. Since we’re here, we spontaneously decide to spend the night at the Chobe River Lodge and enjoy a fantastic dinner. Maybe we should buy tires more often to savor the culinary delights of the region!
