1 out of 4 Angolans suffers from Schistosomiasis, the insidious worm disease which is transmitted by worm larvae mainly in freshwater. Only because we don’t see what is happening beneath the surface of the water we may find this pic of the three kids cute and nice.
Praziquantel – one of the highlights in Merck’s R&D history – is the only medicine to treat all forms of schistosomiasis. A few weeks ago Merck had donated around 4 million tablets Praziquantel to Angola. Enough to treat 1.6 million school children. Well done!
